Abstract:

The Internet is a growing reservoir of mostly passive data and information. The challenge is to turn this data into knowledge. The aim of this paper is to show how passive information from the Internet can be transformed to refined information using selforganising maps. We illustrate the transformation using financial ratios from telecommunications and pulp and paper companies worldwide.
