Emerging Roles in eHealth
Emerging Roles in eHealth, TUCS General Publication In Promoting Health in Urban Living (Reima Suomi,, Turku Centre for Computer Science, 2008.
Abstract:
In eHealth, and health care in general, the role of a patient has always been the most important one. However, now as the patient-physician relationship has changed, partly due to numerous and multiform eHealth services, other roles have started to emerge. Analyzing these roles bring forth alternative interpretations to existing practices, service modes, and to methods of reimbursement. Purpose of this article is to identify emerging roles of customer, consumer and citizen, and to analyze their significance in the field of constantly changing eHealth. The role of a patient is investigated cursory and mainly in relationship with the emerging roles.
