Abstract:

This work introduces automatic test image generation by genetic
algorithms for testing different halftoning methods. In general the proposed
method has potential in software test data generation. The goal was to
reveal, if genetic algorithm is able to generate images that are difficult for the
object software to halftone, in other words to find if some prominent
characteristics of the original image disappear or ghost features appear due
to the halftoning process. Image comparison between the input image and
the corresponding halftoned image was done by using a Haar wavelet based
fitness function.
