Abstract:

Research on embedded system design typically focuses on design space exploration in the
architecture platform space and the goal is to obtain an optimal implementation of the system.
In the mobile phone industry the design problem is often quite different. The goal is not to
design a new system but to add a use case to an existing product or to a family of products.
In this case it is important to be able to quickly find possible performance problems caused by
the simultaneous use of the new use case in conjunction with existing use cases. In this
article we propose a structure for the design flow and show how a dedicated tools is
constructed using a model based approach.
