Introduction to Statistical Analysis (2018 Spring)

Learning outcomes:
The students understand the basics of statistical data analysis and can perform simple analyses of bio-health data. The students can 1)describe experiments and data using statistical terminology, 2)explain the theoretical basics of estimation and hypothesis testing,3) programmatically manipulate data matrices, 4) explore and visualise data, 5) apply statistical tests, and 6) explain the idea of unsupervised and supervised machine learning. As an introductory course, the students are not expected to obtain deep theoretical understanding or advanced practical skills.
Contents:
The lectures focus on the bio-health domain and cover the topics needed to reach the learning outcomes. The students practise their hands-on skills by solving exercises using the R language.
