TUCS travel grant application round
The deadline for the TUCS travel grant applications for Round 3 is Friday 10th August, 16.00. The travel grant application instructions are available on the TUCS website: http://tucs.fi/education/information-students/travelling-instructions-phd-students/
Any applications arriving after the deadline will automatically be moved to Round 4 for consideration.
TUCS short courses funding application round
The deadline for TUCS short course applications for Round 2 is Friday 10th August, 16.00. Applications should contain the following information:
- course description/ contents
- components
- times, lecture halls and the amount of credits
- name of the contact person for the course
- name of the lecturer (if not the same as the contact person)
- budget for the course (accommodation, fees etc)
The applications should be submitted to TUCS by email (tucs@abo.fi) by the deadline. Priority will be given to courses that are not part of the normal curriculum.
The applicant's home department is responsible for the practical arrangements, including travel plans and invoices, as well as travel, and salary costs. If the application is approved, the real costs or the granted amount, depending on which is less, should be invoiced from TUCS by the department.
TUCS PhD Student Toolkit
TUCS PhD Student Toolkit course was held at lecture room Beta on 25.5. and 1.6. The presentations from both course days are now available on TUCS website: http://tucs.fi/news/article/tucsphdstudenttoolkit.php
Professor Christer Carlsson receives the Kaufmann prize gold model
The international association for fuzzy-set management and economy awards the VII KAUFMANN PRIZE GOLD MEDAL to Professor Christer Carlsson for his research into uncertain management and economy (Reus, June 8th 2012).
Best paper award to TUCS PhD student Peter Sarlin
ÅA/IT and TUCS paper received the "Best Paper Award" at Bank of Finland. Peter Sarlin and Tuomas Peltonen received the "Best Paper Award" at Bank of Finland Institute for Economies in Transition (BOFIT) in 2011 for the paper entitled "Mapping the State of Financial Stability". ICEE 2012 Conference
The International Conference on Engineering Education 2012 (ICEE 2012) will be arranged in Turku 30.7.-3.8.2012. The main theme of the conference is Contributing to Success through Innovations in Engineering Education. The main venue of the conference is the ICT Building.

Tohtorikoulutettava kirjoittaa väitöskirjatutkimuksestaan lyhyen (max. 4500 merkkiä) ja yleistajuisen jutun, luetuttaa tekstin ensin ohjaajallaan ja jatkaa tekstin työstämistä Suomen Akatemian tiedottajan Risto Alatarvaan kanssa. Valmis juttu julkaistaan Suomen Akatemian Tietysti.fi-sivustolla.
